Ann Arbor Public Library's 20,000 square foot addition which recently opened provides a sunny setting for patrons. Reference Librarian Susan Chen and an unidentified patron read in a quiet corner on the second floor of the addition (this photo) . Kathy Brewer, right, peruses books in the expanded children's department on the first floor. The addition provides space for seating and shelving. The addition, on the east side of the library building facing East William Street, is within the bond budget of $989,000 approved by voters in 1971. (Ann Arbor News photos by Jack Stubbs.)
