Stone School Girl Scouts Making Candy As Presents For Parents, December 1948
Year:
1948
Published In:
Ann Arbor News, December 22, 1948
Caption:
Christmas 'Surprise' In Store For Girl Scouts' Parents - For a week, Girl Scouts of Stone School Troop No. 6 have been spending after-school hours making assorted candy to be packaged as presents for their parents. The candy-making, supervised by Mrs. Clyde E. Jones, troop leader, has been going on in Mrs. Jones' home at 2027 Columbia Ave. So far, the girls have made 17 pounds of candy -- enough for one-pound gifts for each of their families. The assortment includes chocolate fudge, peanut brittle, "divinity," caramels, and a special confection known as "sea-foam." Mrs. Jones says that "shrinkage" of the appetizing ingredients and finished candy during the course of the project has been negligible -- a great compliment to the young candy-makers.
