Erwin (Duke) Wallaker, 1629 Traver Rd., and David Lake, 1128 Michigan Ave., are shown with plane models they expect to enter in the First International Model Plane Contest, Aug. 14, 15 and 16, sponsored by Plymouth Motor Corp. Model in Lake's right hand recently did 112 miles per hour at a meet in Hastings. The youths, members of the Ann Arbor Airfoilers Club, are backed by the Plymouth Dealers of the city.

Dailey also won first place in the stunt model competition. Scale models are judged on their faithfulness to the actual model and on their ability to fly.

To Compete In Contest: These four youths display model airplanes they will fly in an annual contest between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Municipal Airport. The contest is co-sponsored by the Ann Arbor Airfoilers Club and the local Exchange Club. Trophies will be awarded in six events: stunt, combat, navy carrier, novice navy carrier, "klunker" speed contest and junior division for "anything that flies." Displaying their models are (front, left to right) Alan Thompson and Sonnie Hufano. The other two (left to right) Bill Cafruny and Eric Smith. The airport is on S. State Rd.
