Ash Trees to Ash Floors

Here's a great way to get acquainted with the online version of a premiere regional environmental news service, the Great Lakes Radio Consortium. You've heard the GLRC Environmental Reports on Michigan Radio but the web site offers audio, text and images. Read, listen and look at the story on the Ann Arbor District Library's initiative to use the dead ash trees cut down at the site of the new Northeast Branch for some of the structure of the building.

Mosaics @ the MRF

The Community Standards Unit monitors signs in public right of ways. Happy Birthday Michigan

Michigan turns 170 on Friday, January 26th. It was on that date in 1837 that Michigan joined the Union as the nation's 26th state. Join in the birthday celebration at the Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing on Saturday, Jan. 27, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hands-on activities, exhibits and even birthday cake for the first 100 visitors. In what city was the Frostbitten Convention held that paved the way for Michigan's admission to the Union?

O Christmas Tree

The City of Ann Arbor will collect holiday evergreen trees from the curbside during a one-week period, Monday Jan. 22 - Friday, Jan 26, 2007. Remember to remove all ornaments, nails and tinsel and don't put the trees in plastic bags. You can also drop off your undecorated Christmas trees in the parking lot adjacent to the Drop-Off Station through January 31st.
