Three of the 1,000 delegates to the 36th annual Michigan Kiwanis convention chat this morning outside the Rackham Building. They are (left to right) Keith Sturdevant of St. Joseph; Dr. C. M. Loesell of Ypsilanti, a past Michigan District governor; and Charles P. Cowdin, 91, of Detroit. Cowdin is one of three surviving founders of the Kiwanis movement. He is a charter member of the Detroit Club No. 1, the first Kiwanis club. It was founded in 1915.

Hospital Children's Library Started: Checks for $1,400 from the state Kiwanis Forney Clement fund and $1,500 from the Ann Arbor Kiwanis club were presented to University hospital for the establishment of the Forney Clement memorial library for child patients of the hospital in ceremonies in the Kiwanis room of the hospital Saturday. Shown are Provost James P. Adams of the University, Michigan Kiwanis Governor Dan Heathcoat of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Forney Clement and Dr. A. C. Kerlikowske, director of the hospital, who accepted the checks for the library. Forney Clement was secretary of Michigan Kiwanis for many years.
