The "westward movement," a unit in American history being studied by these Carpenter School fifth graders, takes life in the form of a covered wagon. Posing as a pioneer family are (left to right) Arthur Lau, Kenneth Buxton, Deborah Dinwiddie and Cindy Cody. The wagon was constructed by these youngsters and their classmates in Mrs. Catherine Forbes' room. It bears the traditional slogan of westward bound pioneers, "California or Bust!"
