HERE are two reasons why people who are lovers of animals should visit the Humane Society 3113 Cherryhill Road this week. "Pedro," the Dalmatian, is a well behaved dog two and a half years old who needs a home. Tiny, the Capuchin monkey from South America, is five years old and is already spoken for. But there are other types of animals at the Home at all times. There are 52 wonderful dogs waiting.

Ceremonies marking the formal dedication of the new $100,000 Washtenaw County Humane Society shelter at 3113 Cherry Hill Rd. (top) will be held at 10:30 tomorrow morning. It is among the most modern and up-to-date plants in the country. Among the facilities is a 25-cage "adoption room" (bottom), where animals are displayed for adoption. Workin in the room is Charles E. Wright, assistant to the humane officer.

Pets of a different stripe are held by their little owners in preparation for a neighborhood circus in the 800 block of Third St. on Thursday afternoon. The six-week-old skunks have no names. Their owners (front row, left to right) are Judy Reynolds, Karolyn Reynolds, John Wesley and Carolyn Wesley; (back row, left to right) Carol Kay Braun, Lloyd Braun and Mickey Wagner. The skunks will be the featured attractions in a menagerie. Proceeds from the show will be given to the Humane Society. So will the skunks -- after their owners have played with them for a few more days.
