WHEN NELLIE GIVES MILK HER DAY HAS JUST BEGUN because nine-year-old Phyllis Marie Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Miller, Route 1, Gregory, thinks Nellie should exercise periodically. Nellie has other ideas, but it doesn't do her any good because Phyllis climbs on one of those stumps you see in the left background and slides on her back. The steering is done with the stick Phyllis is holding in her right hand in this picture.

FIRE MENACES VILLAGE OF GREGORY: Two buildings were destroyed, two were damaged and a fireman was injured yesterday when flames swept through a business block at Gregory, 30 miles northwest of Ann Arbor. Fire departments from Pinckney and Stockbridge aided the Gregory department in fighting the blaze, which caused damage unofficially estimated at $14,000. Firemen are shown replenishing the supply of water in a booster tank on a fire truck.

Ruins of a general store and barber shop are shown in the top picture. At the left is a stone garage, the roof of which caught fire, and at the right is a home that was damaged by flames and smoke. In the background is Gregory's new school, elected on the site of the building that was destroyed by fire a year ago.
