Passersby have to crane their necks to see the tip of the crane which reaches all the way to the top of the 26-story Tower Plaza, situated on the corner of William and Maynard Sts. The crane was brought into town to enable workers to lift air conditioning units and boilers to the roof top of the building.

Retailers Cleaning Up - Downtown merchants and their staffs were busy this morning hosing down and sweeping sidewalks in their annual spring cleanup effort. A News photographer caught three in the act in the 300 block of S. Main, Carl Schwartz (left), Ralph Seyfried and Elmer Stadel. The scene was duplicated many times along the street.
