It's no rare thing for a pupil to give a teacher an apple, but to have it 'broadcast' is quite unusual. Much the same thing happened to Sharon Neustadt, a student at East Junior High School. She sent a letter to Detroit radio station WXYZ, nominating her teacher, Mrs. Louise Bass, as outstanding and deserving of the station's "Apple for the Teacher" award. The letter she submitted was judged for the award, and as a result Sharon and Mrs. Bass will be saluted throughout the day tomorrow by the station. Here she delivers an apple in person.
