Fight Fire From Ladders: Mounted precariously on an serial ladder many feet above Washington St., city firemen fight the fire that raced through the fourth floor of Montgomery Ward Co., farm store and warehouse building yesterday afternoon. Most of the battle had to be waged in this position, with great clouds of smoke pouring from the windows of the building into the faces of the firefighters. It took them an hour and a half to control the fire -- termed one of the most spectacular in the history of the city.
