Carolyn Walton of Ypsilanti displays her collection of ethnic dolls at a Kwanzaa celebration Monday in the cafeteria of Ann Arbor's Pioneer High School. Pioneer's Black Student Union hosted the celebration with examples of African-American culture ranging from crafts to food. Kwanzaa is celebrated Dec. 26-Jan. 1 as a time of reaffirming the African-American family. Students also will host a Kwanzaa 'feast' Thursday, 7-9 p.m. at Huron High School in the cafeteria. The public is welcome.

Peter Pan flies in the nursery window as the Darling children look on in wonder in the Pioneer High School Theater Guild's production of Peter Pan. Cast members include, from left, Sue Alexander as Wendy, Mike Gerzevitz as John, Renee Freier as Michael and Ken Norman as Peter Pan. The play features an elaborate flying apparatus strung high above the Pioneer Auditorium stage. The flying machine, a combination of ropes, weights, blocks and tackles and air craft cables was constructed by a local firm over a four-day span. Performances of are tonight at 8p.m. and Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Tickets for both performances are available at the Pioneer box office.

Modeling For Spring Modeling some spring and summer togs Wednesday at a fashion show presented by Pioneer High School's distributive education classes were these three lasses, from left, Debi Wallace, Jane Viery and Kathy Nimz. Distributive Education is concerned with all aspects of merchandising. The show was planned to give the students practice with publicity, advertising and stage display. There are about 40 students studying distributive education in Pioneer High's Cooperative Occupational Training (COT) program.
