Workmen make repairs to the damaged ceiling at Lakewood School caused by a fire April 18. Work began Thursday and is to be completed within six to eight weeks. The cost of the repairs must await appraisals as the work progresses. Estimates made at the time of the fire placed the damage at more than $20,000.

The power station is in need of some major repair work on the outer surface due to years of wind and water damage. Concrete in the 77-year-old structure has flaked away in spots, exposing iron reinforcement rods in the walls.
