Caption:
M/Sgt. William H. Drummond was awarded a Silver Star medal yesterday for "outstanding gallantry" in military action in Korea. Sgt. Drummond, an instructor in the University's ROTC unit, is the son of Mrs. Vivian Willsey of 409 Arbana Dr. In a ceremony at the University, Col. Virgil R. Miller (right), commander of the University ROTC unit, presented the medal. Drummond was cited for a one-man charge in which "he battered an enemy position with grenade and rifle fire." As a result of his "spectacular charge" he forced the enemy to flee the bunker. The citation cited him also for supplying ammunition to his men and assisting the wounded while under enemy fire.

"Mr. and Mrs. Sherrill Warren of Milan are presented one of nine service medals, including the Silver Star, awarded posthumously to their son, Spec. 4 Jimmie S. Warren, who was killed in Vietnam Feb. 26. Besides the Silver Star, Maj. Donald Zutter presented them with the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, Vietnam Service Ribbon, Expert Automatic Weapon Badge and Sharpshooter Rifle Badge."
