NEWEST YPSILANTIAN: Ypsilanti Mayor Vincent Buck presents Dame Judith Anderson, world-famous Shakespearean and classical actress, with a certificate making her an honorary citizen of the city during the Kickoff Dinner of the Ypsilanti Greek Theatre Saturday. Miss Anderson termed the theatre project "a courageous and magnificent undertaking."

Greek Theater In Ball Park - Bert Lahr, during a rehearsal of "The Birds," stands (top photo) [this photo] in the middle while other actors of the cast sit in a circle around the rim of the circular part of the stage of the Ypsilanti Greek Theatre, which is located on the infield of the baseball diamond of Walker Briggs Field on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. The audience sits in the chairs, box seats and padded bleachers at right. A total of 1,920 persons can be accommodated at a performance. From "right field" (bottom photo) the back of the specially constructed YGT stage looks like this. The steel beams built out from the roof of the stands hold scores of lights which play on the stage. Dressing rooms are built under the stands.
