University Ave. said in his letter in the "Mother of the Year" contest, "My Dad's dead, but he said, "Take care of her, because she's the best." Stephen added, "She is. I will." His mother is Mrs. Herbert F. (Nancy) Andre.

(Mary Ann ) Cobb of 432 Eberwhite, Marina's letter said: "My mother gives me warmth and kindness. When I'm sick she's soothing. My mother is so gorgeous."

There are 10 children in the family -- and Connie thoughtfully added her father. Connie is one of a set of triplets.

In addition, "she cooks, looks and dresses well," Kim wrote in our "Mother of the Year" essay contest. The News received 523 letters by deadline time and another dozen or so have dribbled in since.
