East Ann Arbor dedicated a stone memorial to her heroes of World War II and the Korean War in Memorial Day ceremonies yesterday. The memorial stone, furnished by the East Ann Arbor Women's Club, carries the promise: "In the Glory of Their Youth We Shall Remember Them." This is the general scene as Scout units and residents took part in the dedication. Elmer E. Mayer, (top, right), commander of the Graf-O'Hara Veterans of Foreign Wars post, spoke briefly during the ceremonies.

HONOR COUNTY WAR DEAD: In honor of Washtenaw's youths who have given their lives in military service, the commanders of three veterans organizations yesterday placed a wreath near the memorial plaque in the County Building. Paying tribute (left to right) are Wesley Mason of the Kenneth Fox Veterans of Foreign Wars post; Kenneth Immel of the Erwin Prieskorn post of the American Legion; and Howard Carlson of the Graf O'Hara post of the VFW. The three organizations will sell poppies in the city Saturday.

POPPY PURCHASE: Like thousands of Ann Arbor residents today, little Richard Veal, 5, buys a veterans poppy in the downtown business district. Richard, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Veal of Whitmore Lake, makes his purchase from Peter P. Darrow of the Graf-O'Hara post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Also selling the memorial flowers were the Erwin Prieskorn post of the Legion and the VFW's Kenneth Fox post.
