BRIEF STRIKE: These pickets appeared this morning at the site of the new $5,000,000 Parke, Davis & Co. pharmaceutical research laboratories at 2810 Plymouth Rd. The strike was the result of a dispute on another job near Detroit between members of the Reinforced Steel Workers' union and the Barton-Marlow Co. of Detroit. The Barton-Marlow firm is the general contractor for the local project. The dispute was settled today and work is scheduled to be resumed on the project tomorrow.

FOR RESEARCH: Steel framing is in place, forming the outline of Parke, Davis & Company's medical laboratory research building (left) and the administration building on a 50-acre site 2810 Plymouth Rd., adjacent to the North Campus. Besides these two units, a high pressure laboratory and boiler and solvent storage buildings are to be erected. The project will be completed in early 1960 at an approximate cost of $10,000,000. The laboratories will provide employment for about 400 persons.

NEARLY COMPLETED: This is the administration building at Parke, Davis & Company's $12,500,000 research center of 2810 Plymouth Rd. into which the firm's clinical investigation department will be moved this weekend. The building is "substantially completed." Two other units, the chemistry and pharmacology departments, will take over a four-story laboratory building at the research center about the first of the year, boosting employment there to more than 300 researchers and aides. Approximately 50 Parke, Davis families are now living in Ann Arbor.

The overseas executives are participating in a Parke, Davis orientation conference in Detroit through Saturday. The 18 visitors are from various points throughout the world.
