Pittsfield Village, Pittsfield Park: Typical of urban development in Pittsfield township is the establishment of residential districts such as Pittsfield Village and Pittsfield Park, shown here. The Village, a large rental housing project, is identifiable by the curving roads. Pittsfield Park, a community of some 100 houses, is toward the upper left in the photo. A string of businesses have located in the area to service these residents. Other businesses and light industries have located in the township because of its proximity to Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.

The wide, open spaces in the aerial view of Pittsfield Village taken in 1949, left, are the grassy courts still used by residents for recreation. In the 1944 photo below, Pittsfield streets seem almost barren — devoid of cars and trees.
