New Brass In Police Department - Promotions brought smiles this week at the Ann Arbor Police Department. From left are Police Chief Walter E. Krasny; Howard A. Zeck, advanced to major/ new captains Kenneth B. Klinge, head of the department's University Unit; Marvin Dann, Donald Carnahan and Thomas Minick, all platoon commanders; Eugene L. Staudenmaier, Intelligence Division, and Robert Whitaker, Research and Records Division head. Also promoted to major was Walter V. Hawkins, while Detectives Raymond Woodruff and Robert Conn received captains' bars.

Elected - Lt. Howard A Zeck, head of the Ann Arbor Police Department's Traffic Division, has been elected chairman of the Ann Arbor Citizens Safety and Traffic Council. He succeeds Sheridan Springer, outgoing chairman. Francis Tredo, safety officer for the Washtenaw County Road Commission was elected vice chairman of the Council. Carl Arvin, manager of the Ann Arbor Auto Club, was re-elected secretary. Council meets monthly to discuss local traffic problems.
