Valentine's Day Bribery? Ann Arbor Police Department Community Relations Sgt. Kenneth B. Klinge (left) holds a parking ticket as a symbol of what the plea on the cake in the foreground is all about. But Traffic Lt. Howard R. Zeck, whose sister, Mrs. Reatha Parker, baked the cake, is unconvinced that love should take precedence over the law. He declined to declare a Valentine's Day amnesty. There was some thought of citing Mrs. Parker for attempted bribery but the evidence was eaten.

Zeck Retires - Howard A. Zeck, with the city he served in the background, hung up his gun and badge Thursday. It ended his 27-year association with the Ann Arbor police department. Major Zeck, a South Dakota native, for years headed the department's traffic division and has been among the department's three top ranking officers under Chief Walter Krasny. A World War II veteran, Zeck, 49, worked as a desk officer, patrolman and uniformed sergeant and traffic investigator before entering the command rank in 1963. (Staff photo by Robert Chase)
