Yesterday was a very wet day, as this picture of semi-flooded E. Summit St. proves. Here, neighborhood youngsters frolic in the water that covered the street between N. Main St. and N. Fourth Ave. A total of 1.9 inches of rain fell in the severe cloudbursts that lashed the city during the afternoon and evening. Only minor damage was reported, however.

Back in Ann Arbor after a 10,000-mile American Youth Hostel trip by train, truck and bicycle, across Canada and the United states, Muriel McCaslin, 16-year-old daughter of Mrs. Henrietta McCaslin, 412 E. William St., stands on the bicycle that took her on most of her sightseeing jaunts during the trip. The two packs and the bedroll on the bicycle were Muriel's sole baggage on the two-month journey.

The energy needed for an impromptu parade would seem hardly worth the efforts to adults on these hot summer days, but it's a different story with the younger set. About 20 youngsters in the Kenwood Ave. area dressed up in costume, decorated their bicycles and marched around the neighborhood. Despite all the convention activity this week, the parade apparently had no political overtones.
