Odds: One Billion To One No joke, not a double yolk, but a double egg is what Mrs. Amy Vuolo of 2700 Aurora holds in her hands. She said she bought the egg at the Farmer's Market and eventually she will crack it open. The egg is being kept in her refrigerator. Dr. Charles Sheppard, a poultry extension specialist at Michigan State University, said chances of a double egg are about one in a billion. He explained the egg didn't drop down from the hen's egg tract but reversed its movement, going back up the tract and causing another egg to form. (Ann Arbor News Photo by Cecil Lockard)

A gerbil (left) makes a good pet because it's small and, unlike most members of the rodent family, stays awake during the day. Its owners, Christian, 7, and Douglas, 6, are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hesseltine of Starwick Drive. The baby chicks (picture at right) [this photo] of David Ference, abandoned after hatching, are convinced that he is their mother. David is the son of Mrs. Cecelia Ference of Salie. Mrs. Ference and her son have made their country home a recreation center with different kinds of animals and a Tom Sawyer atmosphere.

They are interested in the two dozen extra large eggs which the Bakers usually have to sell, in addition to their regular egg supply. The eggs are guaranteed to have double yolks, and Mrs. Baker is exhibiting a few of the special variety in the above picture, with a neighboring stall renter as an interested spectator.
