DUAL ROLE: Steve Duris, bus driver on the Geddes Ave. route, was Santa Claus at the Alpha Phi Sorority's Christmas party last night. The Geddes Ave. bus transports the Alpha Phi girls to the campus and for the last three years the driver, Mr. Duris, has performed the role of Santa Claus at their Christmas party.

SANTA FLYS IN TO YPSILANTI: A little tardy in arriving at Ypsilanti last night, Santa Claus nevertheless made his traditional appearance in the parade to the delight of thousands of youngsters lining the march route. Santa's visit was again sponsored by the Ypsilanti Junior Chamber of Commerce. Some adults watching the parade hinted that the North Pole airplane resembled a Link Trainer, but Jaycee officials denied this.

Santa Claus has used just about every type of vehicle to arrive in the Ann Arbor area this year. Yesterday he showed up at the Pittsfield Township hall on S. State Rd. on the township fire truck. In his greeting of children of township firemen, Santa (Ira F. Wisely of 1209 Clague) is aided by (from left) Pittsfield Firemen Robert West, Richard Payeur, Harold Fritts, Al Ebersberger and Russ Payeur. Usually Santa arrives in a more prosaic vehicle.

PROMISES -- When one of Santa's helpers visited the Ann Arbor Community Center Saturday, he asked four-year-old Josephine Smith to promise to 'be even better next year' as she accepted her gift. About 60 children attended the party, hosted by the Golden Rule Friendship Club together with the Youth Companion Program. Children were also invited from the Second Baptist Church.
