Wet, frightened, and 18 feet off the ground, this cat's meowings were heard yesterday afternoon by a Third St. passerby, who called the Washtenaw County Humane Society. Herbert Gay, humane officer, made the rescue. Owners of the freed feline collected him an hour later from the society's shelter.

It was a long, cold night for a small dog that apparently fell into an excavation on Londonderry Rd. and couldn't get out. Herbert Gay of the Washtenaw Humane Society was called this morning, and rescued the animal with the aid of a special padded noose on the end of a long pole.
