WHITE SHEEP GONE ASTRAY: Maybe Mary had a little lamb, but right now, her sheep is in the Ann Arbor Humane Society shelter, waiting for its owner to come along and pick it up. "Whitey" was picked up by city police on Frieze Ave. Monday night, and since has been tied up at the shelter, quite separate from the cats and dogs which are its usual residents. Goodyear, leaders in humane work at simple public exercises at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. A bequest from the Goodyears' estate made possible the erection of the shelter (shown above) in 1937.

This eight-week-old part skye terrier-part cocker spaniel looks somewhat skeptical of Herbert Gay, humane officer at the Washtenaw County Humane Society shelter, who donned the Santa Claus garb in keeping with the Yule season. But he as much as told us he'd like to be adopted out to a family in this as a Christmas present for some child or children. There are 35 puppies at the shelter, 3113 Cherry Hill Rd., eligible for adoption, Gay reports.

Gay (right), Humane Society officer, to help pay for the operating table and some of the equipment in the cabinet now installed in the animal shelter at 3113 Cherry Hill Rd. Gay and his assistant, Charles E. Wright, made the table from an old barber chair and a piece of stainless steel. Club members (standing left to right) are Kent Marquis, Wendy Dobson and Alison Myers. Hope Forsythe is seated on the table and holding a dog.
