FIRST ANNIVERSARY: The Covenant Boy Choir of the First Presbyterian Church, shown here at rehearsal, will mark its first anniversary by participating in the Christmas Eve candlelight service. Limited to 35 boys, selected from throughout the city, the choir's training is patterned after the traditional English choir system which will lead to full participation in Sunday worship services. These boys meet for two rehearsal sessions a week. Their training is more intensive and specialized than the customary mixed-voice junior choir, according to Don Pempin, director of music at the church. He said it takes two to three years to train a boy's voice to its fullest competence.
