Ash Wednesday Services: The Rev. Wilbur R. Schutze, associate rector at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, conducts a service of Holy Communion in observance of Ash Wednesday as the beginning of the season of Lent. Special prayers for the communion service, as well as the Penitential Office, which precedes it, focus on acknowledgement of sins and penitence. Other Ann Arbor churches also held Ash Wednesday rites.
