Mardi Gras Spirit: A small bit of the festive spirit of Mardi Gras came to Ann Arbor this week when 16 students from Robert Preston's fifth grade class at Mack School had lunch at the French-flavored Chez Crepe Restaurant on S. Main. The children are taught French daily by Miss Marilyn Cogan, assistant foreign language coordinator for Ann Arbor public schools. It is a tradition in France (and in the American city of New Orleans) that people eat crepes on "Fat Tuesday," which marks the start of Lent. Thus, the youngsters dined at Chez Crepe, and watched as owner Kenneth Ludwig prepared the delicacies. The children are, left to right, Marvin Baker, Jessie Rogers, Mary D'Addona, Gale Hamilton and Debby Mayotte.
