WRECKED CAP PLANE FOUND NEAR ANN ARBOR: Three boys riding through a woodlot this morning discovered the wreckage of the CAP Beechcraft plane which has been missing from Benton Harbor since Monday. The bodies of the pilot and two passengers were thrown clear of the plane. Parts of the plane were scattered over the woodlot, with the engine thrown several feet from the plane.

This crash claimed the lives of a Saline man and his son yesterday at Ann Arbor Municipal Airport. State Police identified the victims as Royce W. Gilbert, 43, and his son, Gary, 16. The plane crashed in a woods south of the airport after first bouncing off the runway of the airport, breaking off both wheels. Witnesses said the plane was on fire as it went down. Gilbert was a commercial pilot who had moved to the area about two months ago.
