THEN HE TOSSED A PERFECT STRIKE: There is a lot of determination written on the features of Walter O. "Spike" Briggs, jr., as he ascended the pitching mound at the Briggs athletic field at Ypsilanti Normal yesterday afternoon. Briggs, at the right, threw a perfect strike on the first pitch to Charley Pink, Michigan lead-off man in the baseball game with the Hurons. It was all a part of the ceremonies which attended the dedication of the $150,000 athletic plant which Walter Briggs, sr., donated to Michigan State Normal. Shown at the left is James M. "Bingo" Brown, dean of men at the Normal and former state boxing commissioner.
