Blake and Officer Mark R. Hoornstra are the two 'foot patrol' police officers newly assigned to walk the downtown area by the Ann Arbor Police Department. Blake and Hoornstra officially start their jobs as the downtown's new 'beat police' Monday, but spent time Thursday getting to know some of the merchants and citizens on their beat.
