What is Tiny Expo? Tiny Expo is a juried indie art and craft fair that happens at AADL annually in December. The show features over 75 artists and crafters selling their wares in a festive library space where you can shop local and buy handmade! It's a great way to support your community and find unique gifts.
Where is Tiny Expo held? It is held in multiple spaces at the Downtown location of the Ann Arbor District Library at 343 S. Fifth Ave., Ann Arbor, Michigan.
When is Tiny Expo held? It is held annually in December.
Who organizes it? A select team of AADL staff. Tiny Expo has been happening since 2010, and since 2014 AADL has been the producer and location for this event.
What types of vendors are accepted? We look for vendors that fit the spirit of an indie craft fair. We look for unique handmade goods in a variety of categories and price points. We do not accept any mass market produced products, food vendors (no jams, salsas, cupcakes, etc.), or resellers of vintage goods. Also worth noting: Our show is named tiny, but your handmade goods don't have to be.
When and how do I apply? There is an application process for potential vendors. The online application opens up in early September. After the deadline, applications are reviewed by a jury, and vendors are notified of their status (acceptance, rejection, or waitlist) in mid-to late October. For 2024, applicants will be notified the week of October 21.
How many vendors do you accept? For 2024 Tiny Expo has expanded, and around 80 vendors will be accepted.
Do you have tips for creating a great application? Photos! Include a link that has the best images of work you actually plan to sell at Tiny Expo! Make sure the photos are in focus, show the work well, perhaps with a plain background. The jury doesn't hunt around for your images, so including a working link with high quality photos of your work is the best way to let us know what you make! (It can be any site that has your photos, such as Instagram, Facebook, Google, Etsy, Blogger, your own website, etc.) We also take item categories and price points into consideration. Having a focused body of work is a plus.
What else happens at the library during Tiny Expo? The library is open regular hours during Tiny Expo! We will also have some hands-on craft activities for all ages happening during part of Tiny Expo.
How can I follow what Tiny Expo is up to? Joining our mailing list is the best way to be informed of when the show is and when vendor applications open up. You can also find us on Facebook announcing show-related news and other crafty bits.
