Fourth Annual Benefit Concert for the
University Musical Society and University School of Music Complete Programs 4122
This year's Benefit Concert introduces an unique feature--Jessye Norman, a former student at the University School of Music, takes time from her busy inter?national concert schedule to return to Hill Auditorium's stage and generously donate her talent for the musical enrichment of students and concertgoers alike. The Univer?sity Symphony Orchestra, a significant part of Ann Arbor's concert life since 1880, and Gustav Meier, its conductor since 1976, complete this evening's collaboration, the proceeds of which will be shared equally by the University Musical Society and the School of Music.
We are deeply appreciative of the contributions being made by tonight's artists and those in years preceding--Mstislav Rostropovich, Yehudi Menuhin, Gyorgy Sandor, and Eugene Ormandy--and to responsive concertgoers for their enthusiastic support.
