TRANSLATIONS
Adelaide (text by Friedrich Matthisson)
Your friend wanders, lonely, in the springtime garden,
mildly encompassed by the magic light
that trembles through swaying, blossoming branches,
Adelaide!
In the mirroring flood, in the snow of the Alps, in the golden clouds of departing day, in starry fields your image shines forth, Adelaide!
Evening breezes whisper in the gentle leaves, silver bells of May sound in the grass, waves murmur and nightingales call: Adelaide!
One day--0 wonder!--on my grave
a flower will spring from the ashes of my heart;
and clearly on every red leaf will shine the name:
Adelaide!
Poema en forma de aanoiones (text by R. de Campaomor)
Nunaa olvida (Never forget)
Now in my last hour are we completely alone.
Before I appear before God I say:
All those who hurt me, I forgive;
You whom I love so deeply, I will never forgive.
Cantares (Song)
I always feel close to you, even when we are apart Because your image is always vivid in my mind. I hear your voice when you are silent And I see you without looking at you.
Los dos miedos (The two fears)
In the night you suddenly pulled out of my embrace.
I asked you why and you said, "Because I am afraid to be with you."
As the dawn was breaking you came close to me again and said-
"I am afraid to be without you."
Las looas por amor (Crazy for love)
"I have loved you for a long time, oh Goddess Venus, but with reserved passion." She answered, "Like all women, I prefer a passionate love affair, Even if it is short lived."
