It also increased citizens’ desire to understand the problems with policing, variations in the treatment of citizens along racial lines, and how they might influence change. Dr. Barbara Patrick will discuss variation in police oversight policies and practices and their implication for disparity in treatment for African Americans and other vulnerable citizens. It will specifically discuss racial disparity and police oversight in the State of Michigan and ongoing efforts to promote reforms.
