Middle Grade Intro to Vietnam submitted by sdunav on June 12, 2015, 12:00pm Very nice middle-grade or young YA novel about a second generation Vietnamese-American going back to Viet Nam with her grandmother, who wants to discover the truth about her husband, who went missing in the early 1970's.

Likeable characters, really cool stuff about being an immigrant, learning a language, the privileges we take for granted in the US, how annoying parents can be, and what traditional life is like in a village in Vietnam vs. Saigon or Hanoi.

Youthful voice submitted by NhuDo on August 30, 2019, 3:55pm Loved the sassy and youthful protagonists perspective on the Vietnamese refugee experience.
