OK submitted by tree64 on July 16, 2011, 5:49pm This book was my least favorite in the series, but it was good enough that I rad the rest of the series. If you really don't like this book, give the 2nd or 3rd a try. They will be better.

great submitted by readingking on July 17, 2011, 11:04am great start off for the amazing series

Overveiw Of Rangers Apprentice submitted by drewy234432 on June 15, 2012, 12:55pm The ruins of Golan is the 1st book to the rangers apprentice. It is about a boy named Will and his adventures in the mystical land.

I love it! submitted by AbbyJNg on June 16, 2012, 8:07am I love how this series begins. Will gets chosen as Halt's apprentice and becomes a ranger's apprentice!

Ruins of gorlan submitted by shalinigurl on July 6, 2012, 10:29am i love this book. The boar hunt was a critical moment which i enjoyed

Read it! submitted by jenny2012 on July 21, 2012, 2:49pm Very interesting! Lots of mild action and appropriate.

Great submitted by Commander Taffy on June 18, 2013, 2:19pm This is quite good. I like the whole series, my one disappointment is that the female characters are not as strong as they could be.

Boys Will Love This Series submitted by skcramer on July 15, 2013, 8:47pm Fifteen-year-old Will dreams of becoming an apprentice warrior at the prestigious Battleschool but when his childhood rival gets in and he is not, Will instead chooses to become an apprentice to the mysterious Ranger Halt and soon must save Halt from a monstrous assassin sent by the evil Lord Morgarath. This fantasy, the first in the Ranger’s Apprentice series, focuses largely on Will’s initiation into the scout-like Ranger Corps and on the growing friendship between Will and his childhood rival. Thus it offers a satisfyingly character-driven story while still leaving plenty of room for future development of the impending war with the Lord Morgarath. Echoes of Tolkien may make this fantasy feel a little too familiar to lovers of fantasy – there is nothing strikingly original about the world of Araluen or the characters that populate it. Nevertheless, this fantasy offers enough heart-pounding action to make for an enjoyable read.

best book in the seiries submitted by eagles on August 30, 2013, 7:41pm Even better the than last

Exciting new discovery submitted by garotagretta on June 21, 2014, 3:00pm My kids and I were excited to discover this refreshing series recommended by a friend. This first book grabbed us and got us hooked on the series. It's geography and names are loosely based on our own here on Earth. What is really good is the writing. The story lines are interesting and the writing is quite good.

My daughter declined to read the rest submitted by juanc01 on July 5, 2014, 1:45pm She read the whole thing. I asked if she wanted me to get the rest of the series and she declined. She is 10 if that helps. I know she prefers things with a little humor, like Percy Jackson

A Good Book (although really this review is more about the series in general) submitted by avanlav on June 18, 2016, 2:01pm I love this series. I would recommend it to someone who loves fantasy and is willing to settle down to a series about war strategy. If you're very squeamish, don't read this series. I have read all twelve books and am now reading the fourth Brotherband (a companion series to Ranger's Apprentice) book. I give it 4 out of 5 stars, as there are really only five female characters in Ranger's Apprentice and Brotherband combined, and four of them are blonde (no offense, but I would like to have a little more diversity). However, I cannot be too harsh, as due to the setting and circumstances of the story, a figurehead female character would be out of place and unrealistic. One fun thing is to try to figure out what all the countries correspond to in our world.

5 stars submitted by kressara on August 13, 2016, 10:51am My son's review: It's awesome. I liked the main character because he was fun to read about. It was a good adventure story.

Exciting submitted by Titen on June 17, 2019, 4:23pm Action packed and very exciting, anybody who likes action should read this exicting book!

We loved this! submitted by liebermanjanice on July 27, 2023, 9:52pm The prologue is a little confusing, but get past it. The book is fantastic, and my family and I loved the whole series!
