Benedict Society submitted by chloeandrews on June 19, 2011, 7:26am Once you start this book you won't be able to put it down. A book full of adventure and a great summer read. Have to just sit back relax and read. the story of 4 children that all have one thing in common that brings them together.

Creative, Implausible, Wonderful submitted by Sara W on June 21, 2011, 9:27am The story is long and complicated, so I found it best to dive right in and not come up until you're finished. The children were great characters and developed into a perfect team. I enjoyed the author's creativity devising the initial tests and different ways each of the children conquered them.

The story is based around a huge conspiracy, the implausibility of which really didn't interfere at all with my enjoyment of the book. It's written in a very deliberate, detail-oriented and timeless style, but still letting the kids pretty much be kids, albeit super-smart, well-behaved kids.

Looking forward to reading the sequel!

The Mysterious Benedict Society Review submitted by ben clingenpeel on June 25, 2011, 8:50am This book starts when we meet our main character, Reynard Muldoon. The first seen introuduces us to Reynard while he is reading the paper with his tutor, Miss Perumal. As he is skimming the pages he comes across an add:
ARE YOU A GIFTED CHILD LOOKING FOR SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES?
He reads this and notices that is addressed to children, not adults, so he decideds to take the tests. When he does this he will meet many people and make many new friends. He will meet Kate Wetherall, (The Great Kate Weather Machine), George Washinton (Sticky), Constance, and of course Mr. Benedict. As Reynard (Reynie) and his friends struggle to take down a most evil contraption that is meant brainsweep everyone, they will encounter great dangers and terrible losses.
I enjoyed The Mysterious Benedict Society, and I think you should read it too.

Outstanding Book submitted by 0liviap0pp on June 26, 2011, 8:30am When Reynie Muldoon, Sticky Washington, Kate Wetherall, and Constance Contraire pass a series of challenging tests, they go undercover to the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened to try and stop Mr. Curtain, an evil genius who wants to brainwash everyone and have them under his control. This is an amazing book. I loved it.

Great adventure story submitted by KathyD on July 17, 2011, 8:19pm A great book where four misfit children are recruited through a series of tests to become spies because of their exceptional intelligence and problem-solving skills. Harry Potter fans looking for another series will enjoy it.

love it submitted by Mustafa Ali on August 25, 2011, 11:03pm once you read this book you never want to stop.

Love it! submitted by Morgsush on June 15, 2012, 1:45pm A great start to a fantastic series. I couldn't put it down once I started it.

Delightful and Smart submitted by David Marshall on June 18, 2012, 2:12pm This book has everything a terrific children's novel should have. It is full of warm and loving characters, suspense, puzzles, codes, and inner struggle. In many ways it reminded me of the Series of Unfortunate Events, with the notable and welcome difference of a pleasant ending.

Smart, fun, and fabulous! submitted by jdev13 on June 22, 2012, 10:47am I loved this book when I first read it, so much so that I frequently reread it. This book is absolutely delightful, and Stewart is unbelievably creative as he writes in his timeless style. Though it's written for children, The Mysterious Benedict Society has universal appeal. It has puzzles, fun, suspense, danger, laughs, and everything in between.

good submitted by tawesomenessk on June 23, 2012, 6:49pm good book

WOW!!! submitted by mysterio on June 27, 2012, 1:45am This book was one of the the best books I have read. This book is filled with action, adventure, humor, and is full of twists and turns. It's a story of 4 kids that all have some things in common. They join forces and become spies on a mission with the help of Mr. Benedict. They call themselves the Mysterious Benedict Society.

First for the Benedict Society submitted by shalinigurl on July 3, 2012, 11:59am This book is amazing. For those of you who are planning to read it at the beginning I know it may seem boring and slightly confusing but stick with it. I made that mistake the first time I tried reading it but when I picked it back up from the bookshelf a second time I was so glad that I did for it is an amazing and enticing book that will make you lost in your own thoughts for days!

Great Fun submitted by Commander Taffy on July 27, 2012, 2:25pm The first book in a fantastic series, The Mysterious Benedict Society, is quite good. Not only is the story line fun, but the characters are well developed. The Mysterious Benedict Society is chock-full of wacky inventions, interesting people and crazy puzzles. I would really recommend checking this book out.

Great! submitted by alumeng.ajl on July 30, 2012, 4:13pm This is my second favorite book ever. The first is the final book in the series. One of the main complaints that I've heard is that the book is too slow. But I think that if it was any faster, we would miss out on some of the best parts of the story. The little things in between the big, important things are what make the book so great. The characters are well imagined. I recommend it to everyone who asks!

luv it submitted by Smile1975 on May 24, 2013, 5:47pm it is a great book and everyone should read it

Fun for many ages submitted by sueij on July 14, 2017, 10:55pm What an absolutely wonderful book if you have a late elementary or middle school reader in your house! Depending on what they typically read, then thickness might put them off, but the story is intrinsically fun and will pull them in with creative characters and action that is hard to put down. The mystery is fun and interesting, and keeps going throughout the book.

I made both of my kids (rising 5th grade, and a somewhat reluctant reader, and rising 8th grade) read the first 5 pages, and both now can't wait to read it. I'm 45, and had a good time with it myself, recognizing that it's written for a younger set.

GREAT BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! submitted by gmc229 on July 28, 2017, 1:36pm This book is really interesting. When I started reading this I immediatly was interested and got hooked into the book.

Musterious submitted by changlin73 on June 22, 2018, 11:09am This book was really good. The puzzles in the beginning were really cool.

Great Series! submitted by succulents84 on June 26, 2019, 5:19pm I have read this book and the rest in the series multiple times throughout my childhood and teen years and I still love them. The plot is suspenseful and clever, there are a lot of big words and the author writes really well.

A joy submitted by atpierce on June 30, 2019, 8:05am The children characters in this book are delightful, and we enjoy puzzling out the mystery with them. Great for middle grade readers, or as a (long) read aloud. Sort of a more intellectual Mission Impossible: Kids Edition.

forever a fav submitted by zora on July 16, 2019, 9:20pm This is one of my favorite childhood reads and it truly lives up to that. Absolutely amazing book I recommend to everyone.
