A Beautiful Ode to Nature submitted by Meginator on July 6, 2023, 9:30pm This gentle picture book follows a young girl who encounters several signs of the changing seasons during a long walk through the nearby woods and town. The book is set in a climate that is similar to ours, which gives it an excellent educational element, and it celebrates the natural flow of the year by concentrating on the positive elements of each featured seasonal change; this approach emphasizes the ways that each season is different from the others rather than attempting to argue why one might be better than the other. The illustrations make beautiful use of gradient colors and have an abstract quality that works nicely with the gentle flow of the text and the book’s general emphasis on transitions. This is an excellent way to get readers to embrace the coming of cooler weather.
