Book I: Dune ; Book II: Muad'Dib ; Book III: The prophet. -- Afterword / Brian Herbert.
"Science fiction's supreme masterpiece, Dune will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, it is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who will become the mysterious man known as Muad'Dib. Paul's noble family is named stewards of Arrakis, whose sands are the only source of a powerful drug called "the spice." After his family is brought down in a traitorous plot, Paul must go undercover to seek revenge, and to bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream. A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction."-- Provided by publisher.

Get ready for backstory submitted by mwschoe on August 15, 2022, 9:47pm Dune is the opening act of a sci fi epic that constructs a very interesting world. However, sometimes I felt myself getting hung up on a new term or storyline that hadn’t been introduced. I found a version with a glossary, and it might be worth keeping a wiki page open to help keep you on track.

Wild ride! submitted by berkleya on June 17, 2023, 2:10pm I liked Dune way more than I thought I would by the end of the novel. The portrayal of women is sort of offensive and fascinating at the same time, and even though I initially thought the whole book wasn't much more than a kind of fever dream of a 15 year old boy fantasizing about power and the future while he was trying to separate from his mother, I now think there's potentially more to it--or at least that it's enacting that familiar fantasy in a pretty interesting way. I also loved how over the top everyone was, especially Paul.

Amazing Sci-fi Adventure submitted by lily.sacks on July 2, 2023, 12:20pm Dune is the ultimate science fiction series full of adventures set in the future where a new world is fighting for power. Even though this book can be challenging to follow it is still worth a read.

Well rounded Sci-Fi submitted by dallasslack on July 29, 2023, 10:27am A great, overall sci-fi book. A mix of futuristic space travel, battle between Houses, war strategy, religious context, a choosen one, love, redemption and many more topics. Interesting and in depth which makes a good read.
