Simple story submitted by glenna on June 30, 2017, 9:59pm Read this book if you are looking for a simple story with very obvious good and bad characters. The small English town prepares for the start of world war two and the story proceeds through the reading of various diaries.

Not bad! submitted by smgop on August 26, 2017, 7:57pm This book was recommended for those who loved the Guernsey Potato Peel Pie Society... I liked it, it was OK - but it didn't have the same impact on me that Guernsey did. It was sweet, though~ strong female characters.

meh submitted by camelsamba on July 2, 2021, 9:19pm The plot felt predictable at many times, but at other times I questioned whether certain actions would be consistent with the era (vs an appeal to modern sensibilities). I listened to it as an audiobook download, and the full cast made this enjoyable to listen to.
