Scotland, Cakes and Fairies submitted by teri on June 28, 2018, 4:16pm We loved this book. Besides, how fun is it to learn a new word like "flummoxed"! A woman meets up with some fairies (who are delighted by the cakes she bakes), and the King of Fairies likes them even better. Once the King captures her (to make endless cakes for him), It's a battle of wits between the two. The woman escapes by outsmarting the King (even her husband isn't sure what she's doing). Lovely pictures and a nice retelling of an old Scottish folktale.
The Woman who Flummoxed the Fairies submitted by lstorc on August 31, 2019, 10:50pm The Woman who Flummoxed the Fairies has great artwork and is a nice version of an old folktale. Beware that this is not a short read before bedtime unless spread across multiple days.
