Year 1869 submitted by jgetty on July 9, 2015, 11:05am Amazing that this work depicts life in the year 1869 which seems so very long ago to me. This picture looks like a very nice scene, people relaxing by the water and enjoying a fine day on a boat ride. Very nice life it looks to me.

Sometimes a print is not the right messenger submitted by sarah fishburn on July 1, 2021, 12:53pm The subject matter here is not my cup of tea, but the difference between viewing a print and viewing an actual painting can change my mind. I attended a Monet exhibit a few years ago at the Denver Art Museum and was actually shocked at how much I came to appreciate Monet's art itself for his mastery of the brushstroke. The quality of this print is actually just fine, it just doesn't necessarily do justice to the piece. Now as for a Monet piece more dependent on color, a print can be a perfect way to study the work of this Impressionist master.
