Entertaining film! submitted by mcpapa on August 30, 2019, 10:52pm Fun, action-packed film. Exciting though plot is simplistic. Thrilling to watch!
Back on Track submitted by Meginator on August 5, 2020, 5:02pm My immediate reaction to this film’s first chase scene was glee, because despite some awesomely awkward CGI the franchise seems to have the kind of budget that its creators initially had in mind for it. The action and chase scenes are predictably excellent and the character development is surprisingly ambitious for an action film, deepening interpersonal relationships among the main cast and adding some personal stakes that lend real depth to the story. This is particularly welcome after some missteps in “2 Fast 2 Furious” and “Tokyo Drift”, which are good enough in their own right but don’t feel connected to the primary narrative(s) in the same way. Some (read: a lot) of the plot details, particularly those revolving around the FBI’s behavior here, are slightly (read: entirely) unrealistic if you actually think about them for a couple of seconds (I don’t think you can clear someone else’s criminal record by cooperating with the feds, but okay), but the best way to imbibe this franchise has always been to sit back, grab some junk food, and enjoy the ride regardless of any plausibility issues. By that standard, “Fast & Furious” definitely delivers the thrills and thin, satisfying plot needed to get the franchise back on track.
