"A JOVE book" -- Verso title page.
"Readers guide included"--Page 4 of cover.
"A heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves one thing: there's not enough data in the world to predict what will make your heart tick. Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases--a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old. It doesn't help that Stella has Asperger's and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice--with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can't afford to turn down Stella's offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan--from foreplay to more-than-missionary position... Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but crave all of the other things he's making her feel. Their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic.."-- Provided by publisher.

Fun but light! submitted by bookher on August 3, 2019, 8:03pm What a fun light book that was quite the page turner. Loved it and couldn't put it down.

great read submitted by pamhockey25 on June 28, 2020, 9:34pm Stella has Asperger's and wants to learn how to respond to social situations (particularly sex and relationships) better, plus her parents really want her to have children. Stella hires Michael, a professional escort to teach her what she needs to know...
I definitely recommend this book!

Sweet and Sexy submitted by AGAPHD on July 2, 2020, 6:42pm I was surprised by how much I liked this! Super sweet and sexy!

Nice read submitted by Princess Cimorene on July 19, 2020, 10:10pm I love that an autistic protagonist is featured in this story, and the male lead is pretty dreamy thanks to his sewing skills and his sweet relationship with his mom and sisters. Nice, light read with bonus points for representation.

I had to stop reading this submitted by valeriemates on August 17, 2021, 12:30pm I really wanted to like this book, because the main character has Asperger's, as does the author, and you don't find Aspies in books every day. But I couldn't do it. After a few chapters I stopped reading.

The main character is a woman who is successful in her career but has trouble interacting with people. She hires an escort to give her sex lessons.

I don't usually read this genre. Maybe if I liked romance novels I might have found this book more amenable. Every page had me cringing at syrupy descriptions of how sexy the man or the woman was, while they do things like kissing cutely in the middle of a crowded ice cream shop. The book has sex that is incredibly explicit, to a degree that made me very uncomfortable. I had thought that romance novels were generally pretty chaste, but evidently that has changed since the last time I tried reading one.

One thing that I did like was that the descriptions of life with Asperger's seemed pretty accurate. Like for example the main character's mother knows that the main character detests being touched, but the mom puts her hand on her daughter's hand anyway, hoping to desensitize her. I could really see why the mom would do that, and why the daughter would hate it.

Anyway, this was definitely not the right book for me, but if you like romance novels and don't mind explicit sex, you might like it more than I did.

Premise is great didn’t love the execution submitted by clk.9123 on August 21, 2022, 3:23pm I listened to this book on audio, and thought the narration was quite good. With that said, the story had too many awkward and questionable components to be truly enjoyable for me. I loved the idea of an autistic protagonist, especially a woman, so I give props to both the author and publisher for making this book a reality. We need more representation in pop culture. However, I didn't like the sex scenes at all, they mostly bored me or just made me think "really? is this what we're going with??"

I felt like there was such an overemphasis on Michael's past, with his father. It created a lot of what motivated him, sure, but it was brought up way too much - I think this book could have used some finer editing. It was a fine enough plot point, it just was talked about too much in the book. It seemed like I was hearing about the same thing over and over again.

This has some surprisingly high ratings, from people whose reviews I typically admire and agree with - but I cannot consider this an above 2 stars book. It just didn't do it for me.

Hooked submitted by rhuman on July 7, 2023, 8:00am I found I couldn’t put the book down, but it took a bit to get invested in the characters. All the conflicts resolved much too quickly.

Easy, Cute Read submitted by ewraback on August 3, 2023, 9:11pm This is a nice, easy, cute read. It's also a really quick read. The romance story is predictable, but still fun to read. The characters are different from what I expected when I picked up the book. It is a spicy book, so if you're not interested in that I don't recommend that. 3/5 stars - it's hard to rate it too highly because of how basic it is. I also won't be reading any of the sequels.
