"First published in Great Britain under the title The Man Who Didn't Call by Mantle, an imprint of Pan Macmillan"--Title page verso.
When Sarah meets Eddie, they connect instantly and fall in love. To Sarah, it seems as though her life has finally begun. And it's mutual: It's as though Eddie has been waiting for her, too. Sarah has never been so certain of anything. So when Eddie leaves for a long-booked vacation and promises to call from the airport, she has no cause to doubt him. But he doesn't call. Sarah's friends tell her to forget about him, but she can't. She knows something's happened--there must be an explanation. Minutes, days, weeks go by as Sarah becomes increasingly worried. But then she discovers she's right. There is a reason for Eddie's disappearance, and it's the one thing they didn't share with each other: the truth.

Unable to connect to this story submitted by dntanzer on August 27, 2018, 9:39am I found both the structure of the story and the relationship difficult to like. The book opens with a scene after this couple has met and supposedly fallen in love in a week. I tried to ignore how this felt like "insta-love", but with no build up of their relationship, it was hard to believe it. The actual structure of the book switches back and forth between before and after the "ghosting" and is very far from linear. The second chapter is set 15 days or so after so there's no tension, no build-up or suspense for what happened or will happen, just a comment about the ghosting from the main character while she's driving with a friend in a car. I didn't really like the characters either. I didn't actively dislike them, but instead found them boring.

It was alright submitted by kerstinrh on August 29, 2018, 1:18pm The book follows the story of two people Sarah and Eddie who met and fell madly in love within the course of a week. After they departed ways Eddie did not respond to any of Sarah's attempts to stay connected. The book follows the story of their week romance and the complicated ways their lives are intertwined. The book kind of jumped around and looking back it was not always entirely clear who's story was being told when. I was not all that connected to the characters but overall the story was alright.

A pretty good summer read submitted by Trudie G on July 26, 2020, 11:41am This was a pretty good read. The structure of the book frustrated me, but the plot was interesting. Sarah and Eddie met and instantly fell in love. Eddie leaves on holiday, and then completely disappears from Sarah's life. What follows are interesting twists and turns that lead to a surprising resolution. I recommend this book for a good summer read.
