Interesting, often funny look at a city's history and purpose submitted by kkrasity on July 27, 2019, 7:39pm As someone who doesn't really follow basketball (or live in Oklahoma), I was a little apprehensive about how interesting I would find this book, particularly given its categorization in the "Sports" section. My fears were definitely proven wrong by the first few chapters--this is a well-written look at the founding, growth, and future of Oklahoma City through the lens of several different aspects of the city, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, weathermen, and boomtown settlers. The author acknowledges at the start that Oklahoma City is not the flashiest of topics, but he takes you on a surprisingly fascinating journey through the city's history that made me both laugh out loud and tear up multiple times.
