Okay submitted by zmclaugh on July 12, 2019, 9:28pm Some strange plot choices and no indication that the story takes place in Singapore. Overall disappointing.

Blu-Ray for Crazy Rich Asians submitted by a2sue on July 13, 2019, 9:26am Crazy Rich Asians was a fun Blu-Ray to view. Enjoyable to watch with an offbeat story! I hope that there's a sequel in the works...

gripless submitted by markwells on July 18, 2019, 3:45pm I didn't feel that this movie grabbed me in anyway. Seems like it didn't live up to its potential. Grade: C+.

Great Rom Com submitted by Sara W on July 20, 2019, 2:48pm Extravagant costumes, gorgeous settings, and over the top characters are all at play in this great movie. The book was a fun-filled romp and the movie definitely lives up to the book.

A Romantic Comedy for Modern Times submitted by Meginator on August 31, 2019, 8:58pm This is an excellent romantic comedy with a lot of emotional depth and a few surprises along the way. Everything about the production is absolutely top-notch, from the casting to the brilliant and beautiful sets and costumes that really evoke a sense of place and character, giving the film much of its unique charisma. The script hits a perfect balance between laugh-out-loud humor (Awkwafina absolutely steals every scene she appears in) and high-stakes drama, giving audiences a nuanced view of its characters through their relationships with one another. I loved the fact that the primary relationship was largely healthy and respectful, particularly given the tendency for romantic comedies to rely on a bit of misogyny; the characters certainly aren’t perfect, and they don’t always see eye-to-eye, but they actually do seem to love each other and the tension comes from outside forces. I wasn’t completely sold on Ken Jeong’s character, who I found a bit offensive in an otherwise generally respectful film, but otherwise this film is about as close to perfect as you could hope. It’s very welcome proof that the romantic comedy is alive and well, and that these films can expand beyond the strictures of their 1990s-2000s heyday to become relevant for a new era.

Eh submitted by sara on August 15, 2020, 4:13pm It was OK, and nice that it focused on a different culture, but it wasn't very good.

Traditional heterosexual romantic comedy - set in Asia submitted by teri on August 18, 2020, 12:48pm This was light, funny, and entertaining. Nothing serious, but a nice distraction and lots of laughs. And great fashion fun.

Fun submitted by suttonp on August 4, 2022, 11:23am Lush and visually interesting. Just a fun movie to have on in the background
