Everybody has a superhero inside of them; it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson's case, by shouting out one word, this streetwise fourteen-year-old foster kid can turn into an adult superhero, courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart, inside a ripped, godlike body, he revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! But he'll need to master these powers quickly to fight the deadly forces of evil.

Shazam! submitted by lstorc on July 28, 2019, 11:47pm Shazam! is a pitfall in the Marvel universe. Some stories and characters are ok to leave out of the films. This would be one of those instances.

Lightweight Superhero submitted by generic username on August 12, 2019, 12:19pm Trivial, but entertaining. At 132 minutes this film is too long for a story this slight.

Humor submitted by markwells on August 14, 2019, 11:36am Humorous enough and edgy enough for an adult to enjoy with a family of all ages. Did seem to run a little long by 15 minutes or so. I liked the main character who resembled Jimmy Fallon. Grade: B.

Thank you, DC! submitted by nsvinicki on August 23, 2019, 1:15pm Finally, DC departs from grimdark!! This film was fun and silly, just like the kids the story follows. But it's a surprisingly heartfelt story of self-worth, identity and destiny. Shazam! is my favorite part of DC, and it was great to see the lighter hearted side of comics while still doing a great job at emotional depth.

Shazam! submitted by yufamily on August 23, 2023, 9:46am Fury of the gods. Overall, it’s kind of lame. It tries to cover all the demographics in the character selection but the interactions among the characters are pretty superficial. Wonder woman’s appearance is a nice bonus.
